Drinking Horn

Drinking Horn

This piece was known as a Gryphon Claw in the middle ages and a Rhyton in times earlier. It is a drinking horn made with Sterling Silver and a small cow horn. It will hold three shots of Scotch. The stones in the base are Lapis Lazuli. I patterned it after one that is in the Green Vault in Dresden Castle. The original was made about 1390 CE. This is one of the more challenging pieces I have done recently.
